Dear BIS Families,
As another wonderful week comes to a close, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the many exciting events and important reminders taking place across our school community.
Today, our secondary students and faculty enjoyed participating in a spirited football tournament. Events such as these help strengthen school spirit, teamwork, and the meaningful relationships that make BIS such a special place. It was wonderful to see students demonstrating sportsmanship, resilience, and enthusiasm while supporting one another.
I would like to encourage all students to remain focused and continue developing strong study habits. Consistency is key to success, and one simple but incredibly important habit we ask families to continue supporting is 30 minutes of reading each evening. Regular reading strengthens vocabulary, comprehension, and critical thinking skills that support achievement across all subject areas.
This week, we also had the pleasure of celebrating our incredible parent volunteers during a special luncheon. Our school community is stronger because of the generosity, time, and care our families contribute. Whether supporting events, classrooms, or school initiatives, your partnership makes a tremendous difference, and we are deeply grateful for all you do.
As we approach the final weeks of the school year, please pay careful attention to important upcoming deadlines and events. Experience Week field trip reservation forms must be submitted by the designated deadlines to ensure your child’s participation in these memorable end-of-year experiences. We are also preparing for several milestone celebrations, including Year 13 Graduation and the Year 6 Moving Up Ceremony, both of which are meaningful moments of achievement and transition for our students. A special note regarding attire: our expectation is for students to dress in formal attire, while also allowing them the freedom to choose something that makes them feel confident, celebrated, and special. This is their day; a milestone they have worked incredibly hard to achieve and we want each graduate to feel proud and comfortable as they celebrate this important accomplishment.
Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership, support, and trust. We are proud of all our students and look forward to ending the school year together with joy, celebration, and continued success.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
Warm regards,
Michelle James
