Great learning doesn’t come from worksheets alone. It happens when small hands paint jellyfish in Chinese, when rock candy experiments fail and teach something better, and when teenagers design posters to outsmart phishing emails. Take a look inside our classrooms — from EYFS to Secondary.

Nursery Lion Cubs: Discovering Sea Life Through ChineseWritten by Ms. Paris, June 2026

Nursery Lion Cubs children have recently enjoyed a special Chinese themed lesson about marine life. Through story reading, interactive discussions and hands-on art activities, the children learned to recognise and talk about sea creatures such as dolphins, whales, sharks, seahorses and shells in Chinese.
During the lesson, we read lively ocean-themed picture books in Chinese, guiding the children to learn new vocabulary and follow simple stories. The children were excited to name sea animals they saw on the screen and touch toy shark models while practicing their Chinese words. In the creative activity, the children made colourful jellyfish paintings with oil pastels. While creating, they described their jellyfish using simple Chinese sentences.

This engaging lesson blends language practice, hands-on exploration and artistic creation. The children were fully involved and made great strides in their Chinese listening and speaking skills.

Y2 Lions | Turning Curiosity into DiscoveryWritten by Ms. Kymberle , June 2026

The Y2 Lions have been learning through a wide range of hands-on activities that encourage curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving. In Science, the students have been building electromagnetic cars, making rock candy, and learning how mistakes can help lead to new understanding. When the rock candy experiment did not go as planned, the students were able to see how unexpected results can still support learning and even help reveal the correct version of what they were trying to achieve.
The students also used different materials to test air resistance and explore how packaging can protect or damage a product. These activities helped them make realworld connections and understand how materials are chosen for different purposes. In Maths, the Y2 Lions have been discovering different types of graphs and learning how to collect, read, and compare statistical data. They used a wide variety of manipulatives to help them build a stronger understanding and connect their learning to both shortterm and long-term memory.

The students have also been practising everyday maths skills by shopping, using money, and creating menus. These activities helped them carry out real-life tasks connected to the adult world.

The Y2 Lions have had a wonderful time learning through practical experiences, teamwork, trial and error, and real-world problem-solving. These hands-on learning activities have helped them grow as thinkers, creators, and problem-solvers while having fun in the classroom.

Lower Secondary English HighlightsWritten by Mr. Andy , June 2026

Our Year 7 students have been diving deep into the world of digital and online safety, exploring how to navigate the internet responsibly and protect themselves in an increasingly connected world. Through careful research and targeted reading exercises, students have built a strong vocabulary around cybersecurity, privacy settings, and safe online communication. Their projects examine real-world scenarios — from spotting phishing emails to understanding the importance of strong passwords — culminating in eye-catching posters that offer practical tips for staying safe online, informative presentations that demonstrate their growing confidence in spoken English, and clear infographics that visually summarise the key dos and don’ts of digital life. It has been wonderful to see our youngest ESL learners take ownership of such an important topic with enthusiasm and maturity.

In Year 8, the focus has shifted to music, giving students the chance to explore a universal language that connects people across cultures. From researching the history of different musical genres to analysing song lyrics for meaning and emotion, students have expanded their English vocabulary in rich and creative directions. Their posters celebrate favourite artists and musical movements, while their presentations have allowed them to practise speaking fluently about rhythm, melody, and the stories behind the songs. The infographics they have created break down the elements of music in visually engaging ways, demonstrating their ability to synthesise information and present it clearly. It has been a joy to watch students share their personal musical tastes while growing more confident in reading, writing, and speaking English. Finally, our Year 9 students have been researching an inspiring person of their choice, developing their skills in biography, descriptive language, and persuasive writing along the way. Whether profiling scientists, activists, artists, or innovators, each student has crafted a thoughtful poster that captures what makes their chosen figure remarkable, delivered a presentation that showcases their ability to organise and express ideas in English, and designed an infographic that highlights the key moments and achievements of an extraordinary life. This project has pushed students to read beyond their comfort zone, build sophisticated vocabulary, and reflect on what inspiration truly means. Together, the work across all three year levels represent a fantastic celebration of research, creativity, and language growth — and we look forward to sharing it all on Celebration of Learning Day!
