As one of the member schools of the Canadian International Educational Oganization, BIS attach great importance to student's academic achievements and offer the Cambridge International Curriculum. BIS recruits students from early childhood education to international high school stages (2-18 years old). BIS has been certified by Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) and Pearson Edexcel, offering accredited IGCSE and A Level qualification certificates from two major examination boards. BIS is also an innovative international school that strives to create a K12 international school with leading Cambridge courses, STEAM courses, Chinese courses, and art courses.

Why Cambridge?

Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) has provided international examinations for more than 150 years. CAIE is a non-profit organization and the only examination bureau fully owned by the world's top universities.

In March 2021, BIS was accredited by CAIE to be a Cambridge International School. BIS and nearly 10,000 Cambridge schools in 160 countries constitute the CAIE global community. CAIE's qualifications are widely recognized by employers and universities around the world. For example, there are more than 600 universities in the United States (including Ivy League) and all universities in the UK.

BIS is registered with the People’s Republic of China as an international school. In compliance with Chinese government regulations, BIS can accept  students with foreign identity, ages 2-18.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets standards for the learning, development and care of your child from 2 to 5 years old.

02 Primary Introduction

Cambridge Primary (Year 1-6, Age 5-11)

Cambridge Primary starts learners on an exciting educational journey. For 5 to 11 year olds, it provides a strong foundation for students at the beginning of their schooling before progressing through the Cambridge Pathway in an age-appropriate way.

03 Secondary Introduction

Cambridge Lower Secondary (Year 7-9, Age 11-14)

Cambridge Lower Secondary is for learners aged 11 to 14 years. It helps prepare students for the next step of their education, providing a clear path as they progress through the Cambridge Pathway in an age-appropriate way.

Cambridge Upper Secondary (Year 10-11, Age 14-16) - IGCSE

Cambridge Upper Secondary is typically for learners aged 14 to 16 years. It offers learners a route through the Cambridge IGCSE. Cambridge Upper Secondary builds on the foundations of Cambridge Lower Secondary, although learners do not need to complete that stage before this one. 

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is an English language examination, offered to students to prepare them for A Level or further international studies. Students begin learning the syllabus at the beginning of Year 10 and take the exam at the end of Year 11.

Cambridge International AS & A Level (Year 12-13, Age 16-19) 

Post Year 11 students (i.e. 16 – 19 year olds) can study Advanced Supplementary (AS) and Advanced Level (A levels) examinations in preparation for University Entrance. There will be a choice of subjects and the individual programmes of the students will be discussed with the students, their parents and the teaching staff to meet the needs of the individual. The Cambridge Board Examinations are internationally recognized and accepted as a gold standard for entry to universities world-wide.

Admission Requirements

BIS welcomes all national and international families to apply for admission. The requirements include: 

•  Foreign Residency Permit/passport

•  Educational history 

Students will be interviewed and assessed to ensure that we are able to provide appropriate educational program support. Upon acceptance, you will receive an official letter.
