As a STEAM School, students are Introduced to various STEAM learning methods and activities. They can explore different areas of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. Each project has focused on creativity, communication, collaboration and critical thinking.

Students have developed new transferable skills in art and design, film making, coding, robotics, AR, music production, 3D printing and engineering challenges. The focus is hands-on, stimulating. inquiry-based learning with students engaged in exploration, problem solving and critical thinking.

STEAM is an abbreviation of SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, ART, and MATH. It is an integrated approach to learning that encouraging students to think more broadly about the real world problems. STEAM gives students tools and methods to explore and create ways of problem solving, displaying data, innovating, and linking multiple fields.

We have 20 activities and interactive displays including; UV painting with robots, music production with sample pads made from recycled material, retro games arcade with cardboard controllers, 3D printing, solving student 3D mazes with lasers, exploring augmented reality, 3D projection mapping of students green screen filmmaking project, engineering and construction team challenges, drone piloting through an obstacle course, robot football and a virtual treasure hunt.

This term we have added a Robot Rock project. Robot Rock is a live music production project. Students have the opportunity to build-a-band, create, sample and loop recordings to produce a song. The aim of this project is to research sample pads and loop pedals, then design and construct a prototype for a new contemporary live music production device. The students can work in groups, where each member can focus on different elements of the project. Students can focus on recording and collecting audio samples, other students can focus on coding device functions or can design and build the instruments. Once complete the students will perform their live music productions.

The secondary students were able to utilize the online environment to continue practicing their programming skills. They were given challenges which involves ten problems. The students need to use their previously learned coding knowledge to solve those problems. The difficulty of each level increases as they progress. It gives them the opportunity to think carefully on the programming logic in order to successfully and effectively accomplish a task. This is an essential skill to have if they want to work as an engineer or an IT professional in the future.

All the STEAM activities are designed to encourage collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and communication.
