Dear BIS Families,
What a wonderful third week of the school year! It has been fantastic to see our students settling into their routines, building relationships and becoming increasingly confident in their classrooms and across our campus. There is a real sense of energy and excitement at BIS, and I am incredibly proud of the way our community is coming together.

PTA: Stronger Together
Our PTA held its first full meeting this week, and we are very excited about the year ahead. We strongly encourage one parent from every homeroom to participate in the PTA and engage with the important work on their agenda.

Our PTA is an important part of the BIS community. It provides families with an opportunity to share ideas, support school initiatives and help create meaningful experiences for our students. We look forward to working closely with our parent community throughout the year.

BIS Arts & Design Academy: An Amazing Start!
The BIS Arts & Design Academy is off to an amazing start!

Beginning this year, our Secondary students will have the opportunity to select an elective class of their choice, taught by our dedicated Academy teachers. This is an exciting development for BIS because it gives students greater voice and choice in their learning journey while creating an even stronger atmosphere of student-centred education.

We are incredibly grateful to Mr. Dilip, our Academy Coordinator, and all of our Academy teachers for the tremendous dedication, creativity and effort they have put into this huge undertaking on behalf of our students. We are excited to see where this new programme takes our students!

BIS Coffee Chat – Next Wednesday
A reminder that our first BIS Coffee Chat of the year will take place next Wednesday, 9 September at 9:00 a.m.

Our first topic is:

Starting Strong: Routines, Relationships and Communication

This session will focus particularly on supporting our younger learners and helping families establish positive routines, strengthen relationships and develop effective communication between home and school.

I would love to see you there, and I hope this will be the first of many opportunities for us to connect and learn together throughout the year.

Help Us Make a Difference!
Mr. Marcos, our STEAM teacher, is currently collecting recyclable bottles and cans for an upcoming student project.

If you have recyclable bottles or cans at home, please bring them into school and help support our students as they explore sustainability, creativity and real-world problem solving through STEAM.

Every contribution helps!

Looking Ahead
It is hard to believe we are already moving into our 4th week. So much has already been accomplished, and there is so much more to come. From the Arts & Design Academy and PTA to our Coffee Chats and classroom learning, we are continuing to build a school where students feel known, valued, supported and empowered.

Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and support. Together, we are creating a wonderful year for our students.

Warm regards,

Michelle James
