Dear BIS Families,

As we wrap up Week 4, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has been another wonderful week at BIS.

BIS Coffee Chat

One of the highlights was our very first BIS Coffee Chat of this school year, which had our largest parent attendance ever! 42 families joined us to talk about something that is incredibly important: how we can work together to help our children have a strong start to the academic year.

We discussed the importance of establishing positive routines that help our children arrive at school ready to learn, feel organized, and do their best. We also explored the questions we can ask at the end of the school day that go beyond “How was school?” and instead encourage meaningful conversations, connection, and reflection.

It was fantastic to see so many parents willing to share ideas, ask questions, and engage in conversations about how we can best support our children. Thank you to everyone who attended. Your involvement makes a real difference to our school community.

Secondary Meetings

In Secondary, Mr. Rico Valda has begun holding individual meetings with students and their parents. These conversations are an important part of getting to know each student more fully; understanding their goals and plans for the future, the courses they are considering, and the individual support they may need from our Secondary teachers and staff. Taking this time to listen and understand each student allows us to provide a more personalized approach to their learning journey.

Building Good Habits

As we move into the coming weeks, our focus remains on building strong relationships, establishing good habits, and ensuring that every student feels known, supported, and challenged to reach their potential.

Please help students to limit their screen time, get enough sleep and eat a balanced breakfast so that they are ready to learn every day!

Thank you, as always, for your partnership and for the continued energy and enthusiasm you bring to BIS. It has been a fantastic start to the year, and there is so much more to come!

Have a wonderful weekend, and I look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for Week 5.

Warm regards,

Michelle James
