As the new academic year begins, our school is once again alive with energy, curiosity, and ambition. From Early Years to Primary and Secondary, our leaders share a common message: a strong start sets the tone for a successful year ahead. In the following messages, you will hear from Mr. Matthew, Ms. Melissa, and Mr. Yaseen, each highlighting how their departments are building momentum—through strengthened curricula, supportive learning environments, and renewed excellence. Together, we look forward to a year of growth, discovery, and achievement for every child at BIS.

As we come to the end of Week 2, our pupils have now completed their introduction to the new academic year’s routines, rules, and procedures. These opening weeks are vital in setting the tone for the year ahead, and it has been wonderful to see how quickly our children have adjusted to their new classes, embraced expectations, and settled into daily learning routines.
Alongside this, we are reformatting assessments to make them more meaningful and supportive of progress, and we are restructuring our EAL programme to ensure that all learners, regardless of their language starting point, are equipped with the tools they need to access the curriculum confidently.
As we tighten up our planning and teaching approaches, there may be a short delay in sharing detailed information about this year’s learning. Please rest assured, however, that families will be kept regularly updated on both their child’s progress and what they can expect their child to be studying at BIS throughout the year.
Most importantly, it has been a joy to see happy faces and engaged learners filling our classrooms once again. We are excited about the journey ahead and look forward to working in partnership with you to ensure every child has a successful and rewarding year.
Start of Term Message from the Head of Secondary
Written by Ms. Melissa, August 2025.
Dear Students and Families,
Secondary School Orientation Day: A Strong Start
We kicked off the term with a Secondary Orientation Day, this was a fantastic opportunity to bring everyone together and set the tone for the year ahead. Students were introduced to our new teachers, who bring fresh perspectives and expertise to our faculty. We also reviewed our school-wide expectations, rules, and guidelines to ensure a respectful, safe, and productive learning environment for all.
The orientation included engaging activities designed to build connections, foster teamwork, and ease the transition into the new school year. From icebreakers to curriculum walkthroughs, students gained a clear understanding of what lies ahead academically and socially.
Learning in the Digital Age
This year, we continue to embrace the power of technology in education. Digital devices are now an essential part of our learning toolkit, enabling students to access resources, collaborate more effectively, and develop critical digital literacy skills. As such, all students are required to have a personal device for use in class. This initiative supports our commitment to preparing learners for a rapidly evolving world, where tech fluency is key.
Curriculum Highlights
Our curriculum remains rigorous, diverse, and student-centered. From core subjects to electives, we aim to challenge students intellectually while nurturing creativity and independent thinking. Teachers will guide students through inquiry-based learning, project work, and assessments that promote deeper understanding and real-world application.
Looking Ahead
This year promises to be one of growth, discovery, and achievement. We encourage every student to take full advantage of the opportunities available, ask questions, try something new, and support one another along the way.
Here’s to a successful and inspiring term ahead!
Warm regards, Ms Melissa

We begin the commencement of the new academic year with renewed energy and motivation, to bring the highest quality of professional education to our loyal parents and students. As a token of your trust, we have already begun upskilling all teachers in the hope of delivering better service to every one of our valued students.
Arts, music and sport is a great way of differentiating your student from the rest of like-minded individuals. Therefore, our focus will be on improving events and exhibitions. Similarly, the AEP program is becoming more structured and streamlined with a clearer transition process that relies on process, rather than opinion. These kinds of fair practice will maintain the harmony in our school and help grow us into an even better organization. Any school’s success is predicated on cooperation between teachers and parents, and with the many changes ahead, we will strengthen our ties even further, by establishing stronger relationships to create a better understanding of our mutual goals.
Let us look forward to a great year ahead.
Many thanks
Yaseen Ismail
